You did a great job. I know that we were being difficult at times but isn't that how a class goes? You handled it very well. You asked pertinent questions to find out what we knew and taught the lesson in a manner that was very easy to follow. The only thing that I think that would have helped with student understanding is if you had shown some examples of the compass rose on different maps.
I think you did a really good job getting everybody involved in the topic. You were using questions relevant to the material presented. Your assessment activity was a good way to make sure students understand location and maps. I feel like the use of some more examples(maps) will be better for students.
I really enjoyed your lesson. you anticipatory set was very appropriate and effective to reach your objective succesfully. The way you used your assesment was effective. Students receive effective information on how locate cities in maps.
The lesson was tought through out. There was a lesson review my using a rose compass. Then it was followed by relating a map to the students life with a state map of Arizona. We used what we knew and applied our knowledge to the cities we had traveled to. Afterwards we got to give directions to a traveler who may not be familiar to Arizona as best as we could. This pamphlet was then submitted to the teacher so we could get graded on our understanding and creativity. Personally I liked the pamphlet idea since they can personalize it and essentially tell the reader a story. This way we can better know our students. We got to know our Arizona state better. If we share our pamphlets as a class, students may learn about new cities that they may have not had the opportunity to visit.
1. Assessment- I thought the assessment of your lesson was really cool and very unique. I have never seen brochure makings used as an assessment before and think that it would allow the students to be creative.
2. Individual Needs- This is hard to provide feedback for, because we are adults and not children, but I have no doubts that you would be able to appropriately accommodate students with special needs. You did provide us with examples of accommodations that could have been used throughout the lesson, which I thought was very helpful.
3. Content- The content of the lesson was very focused and remained consistent throughout the entirety of the lesson. Good job!
4. Preparedness-I think that you were very prepared for this lesson and it showed! You had predetermined answers for the cities on the Arizona map, to help guide us through the lesson, had the handouts ready, and effectively walked us through the publisher activity. Overall, I think you gave a wonderful presentation.
I believe your assessment was very creative and allowed the students to express themselves in a manner that would show you what they learned. I think the way you presented the lesson it would allow you to accommodate to any individual needs that might come up. I thought the content was appropriate for the age group and you did very well presenting the information. You were very well prepared and knowledgeable of the concept you were presenting. I loved the cheers you shared with us. I have to say my favorite was the trucker! (Ladia's version)
Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful. Now I know my way around AZ. I thought the lesson was very appropriate for the age. A great lesson, because I don't even have a clue what my directions are. I thought your use of technology was very creative. I don't think I ever made a brochure before. My only suggestion is how would you accommodate this lesson for students who are in self-contained. otherwise great job
First off Id like to say that I enjoyed your cheers very much and I believe that any student would! Very good! Second I believe your lesson was one of my favorites because it was something I could use and something Id like to learn about. Your over all presentation was great and fun! You did an Awesome Job presenting it!
